Obituary

Camilla (James) Dillon passed away peacefully on the morning of December 22, 2025, after a two-year battle with cancer. She was comfortable at home in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, surrounded by her daughters, Kimberly and Laura, and her son-in-law, Jeff.

Born on August 24, 1944, in Houston, Texas, Camilla spent her early years in the Houston Heights. Following graduation, she attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. After marrying and having her two daughters, her family moved to Dallas, Texas, where Camilla joined the workforce, working with Hunt Properties before accepting a position with the Minyard Corporate Office in Coppell, Texas.

Camilla later married Tom Dillon, and together they purchased a home in Coppell. After Minyard closed in 2004, Camilla went to work for Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), where she served as Leasing Administrator for BNSF Railroad. She remained with JLL until retiring on disability in June 2024.

In November 2023, Camilla moved in with her daughter and son-in-law and relocated with them to League City, Texas, until January 2025, when they moved to Wisconsin. A native Texan, this was quite a change. She quickly grew to love Wisconsin and enjoyed many day trips and weekend adventures throughout the state.

Camilla was a devoted mother and grandmother and led both of her daughters’ Girl Scout troops. She faithfully attended school and extracurricular events through college for her daughters and grandchildren. She was “Mom” and “Gma” to many friends of her children and grandchildren throughout all stages of life.

Camilla’s greatest passions were her family and travel. She and her husband Tom experienced the United States from coast to coast whenever an opportunity arose. By far, their favorite destination was Alaska. When they weren’t in Alaska, they could often be found boarding a ship with family or friends, cruising to the Caribbean, Europe, or Canada—frequently alongside their children and grandchildren. Without a doubt, her greatest memories were made during time spent with family, and she delighted in sharing her love of making memories with her grandchildren, the greatest gift of all.

Camilla is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Hentschel of West Melbourne, Florida; her daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Jeff Mills of Stevens Point, Wisconsin; three stepchildren, Craig Dillon, Cindy Anderson, and Rebecca Wolfe; grandchildren, Zachary Terrell, M.D., M.S., Emily Terrell, and Finnleigh Hentschel; niece Linda Cranford; nephew Steven McGrade; three step-grandchildren; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Camilla was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edwards Dillon; her parents, Evelyn Maude (Ebel) Smith and Edward Marvin James; and her stepfather, Gayle Flanders Smith.

In accordance with Camilla’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. The family will host a Celebration of Life in the Dallas–Fort Worth area after the first of the year.
