Clarence F. "Toscher" Skierka:

Formerly of Shantytown, died Wednesday morning, July 21, 2010 at the Stevens Point Care Center while surrounded by his loving family.

Age 83. Clarence was born November 9, 1922 in Marathon County. He is the son of the late Anton and Martha (Bunczak) Skierka.

Clarence married the former Gladys Garski on June 23, 1952 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Torun.

After their marriage, the couple settled in the town of Sharon. His wife, Gladys, preceded him in death on January 9, 2008.

Clarence worked for Consolidated Paper Mills as a carpenter until retiring in 1985. He also ran his own hobby shop, fixing tractors, building trailers, repairing old cars and farm machinery. If any thing needed fixing he could fit it.

Survivors include his two sons: Jerry Skierka of Nekoosa and Myron (Cindy) Skierka of Stevens Point. One daughter: Diane (Dan) Eron of Stevens Point.

Five grandchildren: Nate (Jenny), Eric (Martha), John, Keith and Jason. Two great-grandchildren: Evelyn and Marshall.

One daughter-in-law: Cindy (Brian) Feit of Mosinee. One brother: Bobby (Diane) Ganski of Stevens Point and one sister: Mary Hoppa of Shantytown.


Clarence was preceded in death by his wife, one son, LeRoy, and several brothers and sisters.

Clarence's family would like to thank the Third Floor Nursing staff at the Stevens Point Care Center, and also Ministry Hospice for their tender care given to our dad, grandpa and great-grandpa. It was greatly appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial in his name to Ministry Hospice would be appreciated.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Friday, July 23, 2010 at the Pisarski Community Funeral Home in Plover. Family and friends may call from 9:00 AM Friday at the funeral home until the time of Services. Burial will take place for Clarence and Gladys at a later date at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Parish Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.pisarskifuneralhome.com.
