Obituary

Dale Orlikowski “Orly,” age 66, passed away peacefully at home on January 13, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer, with his loving niece, Kendra (Chad) Gagas, by his side. He leaves behind a life well lived and a community that is better for having known him.

Dale was born on April 21, 1959, in Stevens Point to the late Myron Orlikowski and Jeannette Orlikowski (née Wysocki). He grew up in Ellis, Wisconsin, alongside his sister and six brothers, and graduated from Stevens Point Area Senior High School in 1977.

Dale worked hard and played hard, never shying away from a long day’s work or a good time afterward. Over the years, he held farm jobs, worked in construction, and eventually became a familiar face to many as the owner of Orly’s Tap and Still in Ellis, which he proudly ran for more than 20 years. Even after that chapter closed, Dale continued doing what he loved most—connecting with people—working as a bartender at several local establishments, most recently the Plover VFW and Bahamas, until his illness no longer allowed him to do so.

Giving back to the community was a cornerstone of Dale’s life. He could often be found supporting fundraisers and selling record numbers of raffle tickets for the Marion Lions, Sacred Heart’s gun raffle, the Elks, and countless other local organizations. He was a lifetime member of the Elks, the Polish Legion of American Veterans, and Whitetails Unlimited. Dale believed deeply in showing up for others, and he also mentored many new bar owners, encouraging their success and offering help whenever he could.

When he wasn’t working or volunteering, Dale enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved playing darts, pool, and horseshoes, spending time on the golf course, attending Packer games across the country, and heading outdoors to hunt or fish. He also enjoyed playing cards and found great joy in feeding his birds and tending his flowers—quiet moments that reflected a gentler side of his larger-than-life personality.

Dale was known for telling it like it is—honest, straightforward, and unapologetically himself. His great sense of humor and charismatic presence drew people in, and his voice often arrived before he did. Even during his illness, his unmistakable energy remained; doctors and nurses frequently heard him coming before they saw him.

He is survived by his sister, Donna Orlikowski of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; four brothers, Michael (Jacque) of Schofield, David (Annette) of Riverton, Illinois, Kurt (Kathy) of Plover, and Karl (Marcia) of Custer, sister-in-law Patty Orlikowski of Stevens Point, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and countless dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard Orlikowski and Thomas Orlikowski, and his favorite dog, Sabaca.

Dale will be remembered for his generosity, his laughter, and the many friendships he built throughout his life. He leaves behind countless stories and memories that will continue to be shared for years to come, and he will be deeply missed.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Islam and his amazing team at Aspirus Oncology in Stevens Point for their exceptional care and support throughout Dale’s illness. Dale truly loved each and every one of you. The family would also like to thank Compassus Hospice for helping make Dale’s final wish of coming home a reality, with special gratitude to his hospice nurse, Venessa, for her compassion, professionalism, and support for both Dale and his caregiver, Kendra, during his final days.

Per Dale’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Plover VFW, 2970 Hickory Drive, Plover on April 25, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Please feel free to bring a dish to pass, as this will be a potluck with food available throughout the day. Guests are encouraged to wear their favorite bar apparel. Additional details will be shared in the coming weeks. Pisarski Funeral Homes are honored to be serving the Orlikowski Family.
