David Fletcher Memorial Mass Video

David Jay Fletcher, 59, of Stevens Point passed away on December 29, 2025.

David was born April 14, 1966 to Kingsley and Madeline Fletcher. David lived a remarkable life in a time when someone with his disabilities was commonly institutionalized.

David's education began at the age of two ending with his graduation from SPASH-Class of 1985. After graduation David was ready to get out in the working world! David was one of the first individuals to find community-based employment through Community Industries (now ODC). He learned how to independently navigate the city bus routes, making many friends along the way. He loved his job at Perkins and retired after 28 years!

David loved sports and participated in Special Olympics bowling and bocce ball. He loved getting together with his many friends for Better Together events, monthly singing with friends, and any type of party!

Thank you to all that enriched David's life and helped him to reach his dreams.

David is survived by his sister, Donna (Jim) Betro; his brothers, Jerry (Diane), Bruce (Kathy), and Mike (Lori); nieces; nephews; cousins; Debbe Engle; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Tommy; and his grandparents.

A special thank you to Aurora Residential Alternatives for taking such good care of David when family could no longer do it.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial in David’s honor will be established at a later date.

A Mass of Christian Burial for David will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday January 6, 2026, at St. Bronislava Catholic Church - 3200 Plover Road, Plover. Fr. Matthew Szymanski to officiate. Visitation will take place at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of services. Burial will be held at a later date.
