Dennis A. Bartkowiak, age 78, of Junction City, died Wednesday, Sep. 23, 2009, at home.
He was born on Dec. 2, 1930, in Stevens Point, to the late Julian and Rose (Helminiak) Bartkowiak and entered the U.S. Navy on Aug. 22, 1950, in Chicago and was honorably discharged on May 21, 1954, in Newport, Rhode Island. He earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Navy Occupation Service Medal. On Oct. 16, 1960, Dennis was married to Doris Howard at St. Rose Catholic Church in Milwaukee.
Dennis worked as a school bus driver for Lamers Bus Lines for many years before his retirement from the company.
Survivors include his wife, Doris of Junction City; daughter, Deborah Bartkowiak of Plover; two sons, Duane of Mosinee, and Allen of Junction City; three granddaughters, Jamie Dombrowski, Nikki Dombrowski and Megan Lucht; and two brothers, David and Leonard, both of Stevens Point.
In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home in Stevens Point with the Rev. Augustine Bentil officiating. Burial will take place in Runkel Cemetery, Junction City. Visitation will be on Saturday morning at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
