Edward "Tinker" Grasamkee, age 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.
Edward was born October 8, 1935, to the late Edward and Amelia (Zdroik) Grasamkee in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. He grew up in Stevens Point and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School. In 1958, Ed married Muriel Brish.
He served proudly in the U.S. Army at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri from 1958 until he was honorably discharged in 1964. Tinker spent his career working for Consolidated Papers River Division, from 1955 until his retirement in 1994, marking 40 years of service. During his career, he served for many years as the Chairman of the Wisconsin River Credit Union and as the Union President of Local 359.
An avid outdoorsman, Tinker enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and hill climbing. He was a member of the Cobra Riders Motorcycle Club. He also loved watching John Wayne movies and listening to Sunday morning polkas and country music, especially the songs of Johnny Cash. He enjoyed spending time playing solitaire, passing on his Polish tradition of making pierogis, hosting an open house for fish fries during Lent for all his family, and making ponczkas at Easter.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Muriel; his son-in-law, James Engebretson; and his sister, Pat Eul, and his brothers-in-law, Art Eul, Ben Serafin, and Joe “Sonny” Brish.
He is survived by:
Children: Karen Engebretson (Plover), Dawn Grasamkee (Stevens Point), Susan (Rick) Zalewski (Plover), Natalie (Michael) Norton, and Kevin (Joan) Grasamkee (Stevens Point).
Brother and In-Laws: Rhody (Carol) Grasamkee (Plover), Luann and Edwin Wroblewski, Judy Brish, Joynell Serafin, and Audrey Brish.
Grandchildren: Jeff (Cassie Maslowski), John, and Jerry (Ashlee) Engebretson; Kim (Dan) Hintz; Kelly (Ryan) Roettger; Tyler (Lindsey), Nick (Adriana), and Christopher Norton; Travis (Rachel), Aaron, and Derek (Katy) Zalewski.
Great-Grandchildren: Kaylee, Caydence and Riley Engebretson; Eliana and Lillian Roettger; Damon, Alayna, Magnolia, Jager, Axel, Nyx, and Lennox Zalewski.
He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Edward will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Saint Peter’s Catholic Church, 800 Fourth Avenue, Stevens Point. Fr. Matthew Szymanski officiating. The visitation will be held at 9:30 AM in the Saint Faustina Room at the church until the time of service. Burial to follow in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
