Eldred D. Kowalski:

78, of Stevens Point, died Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Ministry St. Michael's Hospital. Eldred was born on July 2, 1935, in Stevens Point. He was the son of the late Frank & Delphine (Pliska) Kowalski. He attended St. Peter's grade school where his basketball team won the 8th grade championship and graduated from P.J. Jacobs high school.

His marriage to Ione Kowalski took place on February 13, 1955 at St. Peter Catholic Church.
His wife died on August 8, 2000.

Eldred worked for the City of Stevens Point with the Street Department. He retired in 1999.

He coached youth baseball and his baseball team called CLC won the city championship. He was past president of the St. Peter's Parent Teacher Association. He managed the family band which was called Free Spirit. He was an avid polka band dancer, enjoyed going to the casino, fishing, camping and loved listening to his brother's polka band: the Golden Aces.

Survivors include his sons, Fred (Clara) Kowalski of North Aurora, Illinois, Edward (Laura) Kowalski of Plover, and Dan (Julie) Kowalski of Plover. Grandchildren, Keith (Autumn), Scott (Jody), Amy, Allison, Miriam, Maria, Jenny & Katie. Step-Grandchildren, Todd (Liz) Helbach-Waupaca, Troy Helbach-New Glarice, Theresa (Walter) Belsha-Stevens Point, and Tammy (Todd) Groshek-Amherst.
16 Great-Grandchildren and two Great-Great-Grandchildren.

Also survived by his brothers, Jerry (Beverly) Kowalski & Robert (Mary Ann) Kowalski. Sister, Laverne (Willie) Trzebiatowski. Sister-in-law, Kathy Kowalski.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Arthur. Grandsons, Kenny & Eric.

In lieu of flowers, memorial in Eldred's name will be established at a later date.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, July 5, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rev Ted Lewandowski officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
Visitation on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.
