Emil B. Guzman:

Of Stevens Point, died early Wednesday morning, August 4, 2010 at Ministry- St. Michael's Hospital in Stevens Point.

Age 87. Emil was born February 3, 1923 in Stevens Point. He was the son of the late Barney and Francis (Kitowski) Guzman.


He attended local grade schools and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1941.

Emil entered the United States Navy on January 20, 1943 in Stevens Point. He served as a Machinist Mate 2nd Class during World War II. He was honorably discharged on April 13, 1946 at Great Lakes, IL.

He received the American Area Ribbon, the Asiatic/Pacific Area Ribbon, and the World War II Victory Ribbon.

Upon returning home, Emil worked for Consolidated Papers as a machinist for over 40 years.

His marriage to Mildred Phillips took place on September 28,1946 in Stevens Point. After their marriage, the couple settled in Stevens Point.

His wife of 63 years, Mildred, survives. Emil was a member of the Berens-Scribner American Legion Post 6 of Stevens Point.

Survivors besides his wife, Mildred, are two daughters: Donna (Greg) Mykisen of Bancroft and Judy Guzman (Joe) of Stevens Point.

One grandson: Bryan Mykisen of Fond Du Lac, WI.

He is further survived by one brother: Richard (Zelda) Guzman of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, and one sister: Martha (Harold) Bandow of Stevens Point.


Emil was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Guzman, and a sister, Marie (George) Schmitz of Crest Hill, IL.

As per Emil's request, there will be no funeral services. A private family burial will take place at a later date at the Guardian Angel Cemetery.
