Ervin R. Lilla

Ervin R. Lilla, age 81, of Custer, died Tuesday morning, Sep. 22, 2009, at home while under the care of his family and Ministry Home Care Hospice.

He was born on Feb. 27, 1928, in the town of Sharon to the late Vincent and Frances (Hintz) Lilla. On March 2, 1946, he was married to Ramona Gagas at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia.

Ervin was employed at E.B. Sommers Construction for 22 years and also farmed the family homestead in the town of Sharon.

He was a member of the St. Isadore and Holy Name Societies at Sacred Heart Parish in Polonia and he enjoyed fishing, hunting and attending auctions.

Survivors include his wife, Ramona Lilla of Custer; his children, Kathy (James) Wrycza of Custer, Mike (Sharon) Lilla of Mosinee, Marlene (Hank) Trzebiatowski of Rosholt, Rita (Fred) Wanta of Appleton, and Laurie (Bryon) Simonis of Custer; his grandchildren, Jason, Chris, Mark, Renee, Curt, Kim, Brian, Jeff, Kristin, Brad, Jeremy, Nicole, Amanda and Brooke; and his great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Matthew, Megan, Kelsey, Garrett, Michael, Hannah, Ryan, Adam, Brandon, Jacob, Bryce, Whitney, Casey, Tanner and Emily.

In addition to his parents, Ervin was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Jr., and two step-sisters, Regina Bronk and Esther Yach, both of Manitowoc.

The funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia with the Rev. Marcin Mankowski officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home in Stevens Point and again at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time for Mass. The St. Isadore and Holy Name Societies will combine with the parish rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
