Esperanza (Hope) Ramon passed away unexpectedly on January 6th following an aneurysm.
Born on April 30, 1951, in San Antonio, Texas, to Paz and Marcelina Abrego, Hope grew up in a loving family that faced financial hardships. She left school in 10th grade to work in the fields alongside her family, a commitment to family that remained central throughout her life.
Hope and her family traveled across states for various harvesting seasons. During one of those journeys, her sister Violanda met her future husband and shared a photo of his brother with Hope. At that time, Hope was back in Texas but told her parents she was moving to Wisconsin to meet that man. She did - and less than a year later, Hope and Henry were married in February 1972.
In their early years of marriage, they welcomed two daughters. They worked hard, traveled, and built many cherished friendships along the way.
Hope was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, and friend. Her most treasured title, however, was “GOAT” (Greatest of All Time), lovingly bestowed by her grandchildren who adored her.
In her final act of selflessness, Hope gave the gift of live through organ donation.
She is survived by her husband, Henry; daughters Amy Ramon and Tanya (Kris) Mazur; grandchildren Kaden Mazur, Cruz Masias, Kyah Mazur, and Cendal Masias; and siblings Juanita Mendez, Marcelina Moreno, Violanda Ramon (Armando Sr.), Paul Abrego, Arturo Abrego (Yolanda), Isabel Alva (Frank), Albert Abrego, and Christine Longoria (Lorrie).
Hope was preceded in death by her parents, Paz and Marcelina Abrego; sister Natalia Abrego; and brothers Jose Abrego, Paz Abrego Jr., and Ralph Abrego.
Hope’s love and legacy will live on in all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the emergency department at Aspirus Hospital – Plover, the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit at UW Hospital – Madison, and Pisarski Funeral Home for their compassionate care during this difficult time.
