Genevieve S. Jakubek
89 years old of Whispering Pines, Plover formerly of Custer, passed away Thursday December 4, 2014, at Whispering Pines Assisted Living, where she had resided the past three years. Genevieve was born on October 9, 1925, in Rosholt. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Bernice (Czerwinski) Kaminski. She attended St. Adalbert Catholic School.
Genevieve was united in marriage to Stanley Jakubek on October 18, 1941, at St. Adalbert Catholic Church Rosholt, after the marriage the couple resided in Custer. Her Husband Stanley died on December 3, 1993.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Rosary Society.
She enjoyed gardening, working with flowers and canning. She loved to embroider and sew. She would sew doll clothes and clothing for her neighbors and her family.
Genevieve is survived by her 5 children, Roman Jakubek of Plover, Stanley Jr. (Judy) Jakubek of Amherst Junction, Theresa (Arnie) Filtz of Custer, Lucy (Robert) Slowinski of Stevens Point and Michael (Laura) Jakubek of Custer. She is further survived by 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Roxanne (Slowinski) Kurszewski, and sisters and brothers- Mary Powalish, Regina Walters, Dorothy Zurawski, Felix Kaminski, Wallace Kaminski and Leo Kaminski. The family of Genevieve would like to thank the staff of Whispering Pines and Dr. Teri Hahn.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday December 9, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Polonia with the Rev. Gregory Michaud officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home Stevens Point and again on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.
