97, formerly of Stevens Point, died Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at Whispering Pines, Plover.

Helen was born on May 3, 1916 in the Town of Linwood. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Emma (Langer) Flaig. Her marriage to Ben Niemczyk took place on October 30, 1933 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Mill Creek; after the marriage, the couple settled in the town of Linwood where they farmed with their children. Her husband, Ben, died on August 30, 1990.

Helen worked at St. Michael's Hospital. She was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Auxiliary where she spent many hours volunteering at the VA Hospital in King.

She enjoyed playing bingo & cards, visiting the casino, doing word find books and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters, Elaine Bacon of Farmington, New Mexico, Connie Jones of Augusta Georgia, Betty Nowacki of Stevens Point, Mary (Bob) Ortscheid of Wisconsin Rapids, Luci (Mike) Liebe of Stevens Point, Bonnie (Dennis) Lila of Plover and Judy (Pat) Kinney of Stevens Point.
37 Grandchildren, 72 Great-Grandchildren, 39 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
Also survived by her brother, Walter (Lillian) Flaig of Rudolph.

She was preceded in death by her daughters, Irene Kruger & Shirley Kluck. Sons, LeRoy & Richard. Grandson, Russell Niemczyk, three brothers & four sisters.

The family would like to thank the staff at Whispering Pines and Heartland Hospice for their loving care and support.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church. Rev. Jerzy Rebacz officiating. Burial will take place in Restlawn Cemetery in Grand Rapids.

Visitation on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Pisarski Funeral Homes of Stevens Point and Plover are assisting the family with arrangements.
