Henry H. Duda:

Age 86, of 2121 County Trunk E, Junction City, died peacefully Wed. April 9, 2008 surrounded by family at his home. He had been under the care of his family and Ministry Home Care – Hospice Services.

Henry was born May 5, 1921 in the Town of Linwood. He was the son of the late Michael & Anna (Pazignot) Duda.

He attended schools in the Town of Linwood. Between the ages of 16 and 19 years old, Henry held 4 Golden Glove Boxing Titles.

He entered the US Army on Oct. 15, 1940 in Stevens Point. He served as a corporal with the 129th Field Artillery. He served in New Guinea and the Southern Philippines. Henry received the Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Ribbon, American Defense Service Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with 2 bronze battle stars, Philippines Liberation Ribbon with 1 bronze battle star and 5 overseas service bars. Henry was also the Army's 32nd Division boxing champion. He was honorably discharged on July 13, 1945 at Fort Sheridan, IL.

Henry married Kathryn Mills on Feb. 15, 1947 at St. Peter Catholic Church. She survives.

Henry was the Portage County Sheriff in the early 1950s. He also worked for Asphalt Products Co. for 7 years. He farmed in the Towns of Carson and Linwood for over 50 years and owned and operated two night clubs, "The Platwood Club" and "Poor Henrys" which later became "The Outer Limits."

He enjoyed farming, hunting and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Henry's name to the Boys and Girls Club of Portage County, P.O. Box 171, Stevens Point, WI 54481 would be appreciated. Henry always had great care for the young people of Portage County.

1 Daughter-in-Law: Cathy Duda of Stevens Point

Preceded in death by 2 Sons: Kevin & Henry "Ron" Duda, 5 Brothers: Joe, Bruno, Walter, Alex and Raymond and 1 Sister: Helen Zak.

Funeral Mass: 11:00 AM Monday at St. Peter Catholic Church, Rev. Kevin C. Louis off.
Burial in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 PM Sunday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home and from 10:00 AM until the time of services Monday morning in the St. Faustina Room at St. Peter Church. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM Sunday at the Funeral Home.
