Dr. James 'Jim' D. Miller:

71, of 1414 Riverview Drive, Stevens Point, died Friday, July 16, 2010 at his home. He was under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice Services. Born April 17, 1939 in Stevens Point. Son of the late Dr. Stanley & Kathryn (Kitowski) Miller.

Jim attended Campion High School in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Marquette University and graduated from Marquette Medical School in 1965.

He served his internship at St. Mary's Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He served two years in the Army - the first year at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He then served during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968 and was honorably discharged as a Captain in the Army.

After the service, Jim returned to Stevens Point to practice with his father, Dr. Stanley Miller, for 23 years. After the death of his father, he had his own practice for 3 years. He then worked for Rice Clinic for 10 years.

His marriage to Bernadine Mallek took place on September 26, 1964 at St. Peter Catholic Church.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1170 and the American Legion Post 6.

He enjoyed fishing and Lionel Trains.

Survivors include his wife: Bernadine 'Bernie' Miller of Stevens Point. Daughter: Susan Deyo of Stevens Point. Sons: Jeffrey (Amy) Miller of Eau Claire, Gregory (Rebecca) Miller of Weston and Matthew (Laura) Miller of Eau Claire.

9 Grandchildren and 1 Great-Granddaughter.

Sisters: Madeline Davidson of Tacoma, Washington, Kathy (John) Oertel of Stillwater, Minnesota and Janie Miller of Peru, Wisconsin.

Funeral Mass: 10:30am Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at St. Peter Catholic Church. Rev. Kevin C. Louis officiating. Burial will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery.

Visitation on Monday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home in Stevens Point and again on Tuesday from 9:30am until time of services in the St. Faustina Room at the church.

American Legion Post 6 ritual at 6:30pm Monday and the Knights of Columbus will combine with the parish rosary at 7:00pm Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to St. Peter Catholic Church or Ministry Home Care Hospice Services.
