James R. Ross

March 29, 1927 — October 28, 2013

James R. Ross:
Of Plover, died late Monday night, October 28, 2013 at Whispering Pines Assisted Living Center in Plover. Age 86.

Jim was born March 29, 1927 in Kalamazoo, MI. He was the son of the late Walter and Angeline (Lapinski) Ross. He attended local grade schools and P.J. Jacobs High School.

Jim entered the United States Army on November 23, 1945 in Chicago, IL. He served as a Sergeant with the HQ CO. WPBC as an Engineer Operator. He was honorably discharged on January 27, 1947 at Fort Sheridan, IL.

His marriage to Geraldine "Gerri" Adams took place on October 21, 1950 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church. After their marriage, the couple settled in Milwaukee and Mosinee before returning to the Plover area in 1962. His wife, Gerri, survives.

Jim owned and operated A & R Auto Services for a number of years with his brother-in-law before he started Badger Motors Auto Salvage. His sons purchased the business in 2006, but Jim continued to help them until 2008 when he retired due to health reasons.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. He loved going up to his cottage in Mercer, WI, which he and his family built. His most precious time, though, was spending time with his family.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial in his name will be established at a later date.

Survivors include his wife: Gerri of Plover. His two sons: Doug (Sue) Ross and Jim Ross (Dixie Rosenthal) both of Plover. One daughter: Debbie (Bill) Sniadajewski of Plover, and two grandsons: Ryan Ross and Brandon Sniadajewski. One sister: Betty LaPresti of Milwaukee.

Jim was preceded in death by three brothers: Morris Roszak, Ted Ross and Bob Ross, and three sisters: Marge Hovseth, Grace Schmit and Irene Yach.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, October 31, 2013 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church. Monsignor Jeffrey Burrill officiating. Burial will be in the St. Bronislava Parish Cemetery.
