Jeannette R. Pientka, age 57, of Stevens Point, passed away at her home on July 21, 2026.
Jeannie was born in Stevens Point to Vincent and Ruth Pientka. Although life took her to several different places over the years, she eventually returned to the family homestead that always remained close to her heart. She worked a variety of jobs before returning to school to pursue her true calling as a traveling nurse. Caring for others was more than her profession—it was simply who she was. Whether family, friends, patients, or strangers, Jeannie was always ready to help someone in need.
Her compassionate heart extended beyond people. She had a special love for cats and could never resist taking in one more, making sure they found a safe and loving home.
Jeannie was the heart of many family gatherings. She had a remarkable gift for bringing everyone together for holidays, birthdays, celebrations, and family meals. She delighted in creating beautiful specialty cakes for those occasions, each one made with love and tailored to the people she cared about. Her most recent creation was a multi-flavored wedding celebration cake, a fitting example of the joy and generosity she poured into every gathering. Through her hospitality and thoughtfulness, she created lasting memories that her family will treasure forever.
She also kept her family smiling with her playful sense of humor. One of her favorite running jokes was that she was "Mom's favorite," a claim she made often with a grin, much to the amusement of her brothers and sisters. It became one of those cherished family stories that will forever bring a smile to those who knew her.
Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Ruth Pientka; her brother, John Pientka; and her brother-in-law, Tom Pliska.
She is survived by her brothers, George (Dorothy), Joe (Bonnie), Andy (Brenda), and Tom; her sisters, Theresa Pliska, Anna (Boleslaw) Kochanowski, Carol (Bob) Bernas, Loretta (Peter) Czaikowski, and Sara Pientka; and her aunts, Lorraine and Mary Pientka, Frances (Louie) Lehman, and Dolores Soik. "Aunt Gi Gi" will be deeply missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and the great number of friends that were just like family to her in the end, and all whose lives she touched with her kindness and generosity.
Jeannie's legacy is one of compassion, service, generosity, humor, and family. She cared for others without hesitation, welcomed people around her table, celebrated life's milestones with love, and never let her family forget that she was—at least according to her—Mom's favorite. Her warmth, laughter, and giving spirit will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Jeannie will be held at 11:00a.m. on Friday July 31, 2026, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church 2493 County Road M, Stevens Point. Fr. Dennis Stanchik and Fr. Biju Kunjukutty MSFS will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
