Jeffery J. "Jeff" Wanta, age 60, of Stevens Point, WI, passed away Thursday morning , August 25, 2016, at St. Claire's Hospital in Weston following heart surgery. Jeff was born on August 31, 1955 in Stevens Point, WI, a loving son of the late Henry "Hank" and Marge (nee Golla) Wanta.
He attended St. Peter Parochial Catholic Grade School and graduated from Pacelli High School in Stevens Point in 1973.
He married Martha M. Suchon on May 14, 1977 at St. Peter's Catholic Church. After their marriage
the couple settled in Stevens Point. Marty preceded him in death on July 28, 2016.
Jeff worked with his father for numerous years at Wanta's Athletic Bar in Stevens Point and at Wanta's Whiting Bar. For the past 12 years he was employed at World Class Manufacturing in Weyauwega, WI.
Jeff enjoyed playing softball for many teams in his younger days, bowling, hunting and fishing, attending church picnics and watching the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers. He loved watching and attending all of his children's sporting events and cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include: children: Rebecca (Larry) Kretzschmer of Stevens Point, Kelly (Christian) Nitz of Plover, Matthew (Tanya) Wanta of Pulaski and Heidi (John) Kirner of Appleton. His six loving grandchildren: Jackson, Mariel, Noah, Brodie, Lincoln and Harper. He is further survived by two sisters: Sue (Gary) Tuskowski and Jane (Tom) Worzalla both of Stevens Point and two brothers: Kevin Wanta of Rudolph and Scott (Karla) Wanta of Plover. Seven brothers and sisters-in-law: Anthony (Barbara) Suchon of Santa Rosa, CA, Sarah (Robert) Greene, Francis (Nancy) Suchon and John (Rhonda) Suchon of all of Plover, Sam (Sharon) Suchon of Plymouth, WI, Loretta Mallek of Plover and Mary (Dale) Skrzeckoski of Stevens Point.
Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife: Marty; two infant grandchildren: Dane Nitz and Infant Kirner, his parents, and his mother and father-in-law: Anthony and Mary Suchon.
Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday morning, August 31, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Inurnment will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 4:00-7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at the Pisarski
Funeral Home of Stevens Point and from 9:00 A.M. on WEDNESDAY at the St. Faustina Room of St. Peter's Catholic Church until the time of Mass.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Jeff's name.
