Joan (Olds) Golla, age 69, of Stevens Point, died Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at St. Michael's Hospital after a long fight with cancer.

She was born March 25, 1943 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin to the late Arnold and Mildred (Niemczyk) Olds.

She attended St. Stephen's Catholic School and P. J. Jacobs High School.

Joan retired as a teacher's aid in 2002 from Plover-Whiting Elementary School.
She was married to David Golla on August 4, 1962 and celebrated 50 years of loving marriage August 4, 2012.

She enjoyed reading, listening to polka music, traveling, camping, crafts and spending time with family and friends.

Joan is survived by her loving husband, David Golla, and two daughters: Julie (David) Benson of Clinton, Arkansas, and Carla (Thomas) Betka of Green Bay, Wisconsin.

She is further survived by 4 grandchildren: Chris, Josh, Jackson and Megan; and 3 great-grandchildren: Shawn, Joshua and Natalee. One brother: Arnold Olds, one sister-in-law: Kathy (Mancheski) Olds, and one sister: Kathleen (Olds) Miller, all of Stevens Point; also survived by her mother-in-law and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Jean, and brother-in-law, Robert Miller.
Joan was a very kind, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who always showed a caring heart toward others.

Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 29, 2012, at St. Bronislava Catholic Church Plover. Rev. James Trempe officiating. Entombment in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Pisarski Community Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 2911 Plover Road, Plover, and again on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. Parish rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Ministry-St. Michael's Cancer Center, Department of Oncology in Marshfield and all of the caring nurses, aids, doctors and support staff at St. Michael's Hospital for making this difficult time less stressful. We would also like to thank the staff at Ministry Home Care and Hospice for all of their support and comforting words.
