Joan A. Johnson:
Of Plover, died Saturday evening, May 8, 2010 at the Stevens Point Care Center while under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice.
Age 56. Joan was born May 1, 1954 in Knox, Indiana.
She was the daughter of the late Allen and Estelle (Vinachi) Johnson.
She graduated from Almond-Bancroft High School in 1972.
She also attended Mid-State Cosmetology School and UW-Marathon County in the Art program.
Joan worked for Ore Ida foods for a number of years and for a number of beauty salons in the area.
She married Tom Derr, but the couple later divorced. They remained friends and Tom was her caretaker for the last 18 months of her illness.
Joan loved to paint water colors and the arts. She enjoyed baking and cooking, reading and doing yoga.
She also loved fishing, gardening and the beauty of the outdoors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joan's name to Ministry Cancer Support Group or to Ministry Home Hospice would be appreciated.
Survivors include one son: Josh Derr of Plover. Her ex-husband and special friend: Tom Derr of Plover. One sister: Linda (Jim) Alexander of Plainfield, two brothers: Ron (Diana) Johnson of Auburndale, WI and Eric Johnson of Plover.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Al and Bob.
A Scriptural Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 PM Wednesday evening at the Pisarski Community Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Plover. Rev. Dan Farley officiating. Burial will be in the Bohemian Cemetery in the Town of Rose at a later date. Family and friends may call from 5:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home until the time for service.
