John J. Hudy Jr.
Age 83, of Stevens Point, died peacefully on Monday January 2, 2017, with his loving wife of 61 years, daughter and grandson by his side. John was born on June 8, 1933, in Stevens Point. He was the son of the late John and Martha (Pionek) Hudy Sr. He attended St. Peters grade school and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1952.
His marriage to Elsie Yach took place on September 10, 1955, whom he had met at Weltman's Grocery Store.
John worked at Vetters until 1963 when he accepted a job at the Stevens Point Fire Department. He became a driver on January 1, 1968, a Lieutenant May 1, 1975, and a Captain February 17, 1978. He retired as a Captain on March 2, 1989.
He enjoyed all sports but especially liked watching the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers.
Survivors include his wife Elsie, daughter, Nancy (Scott Kramer) and grandson; Kyle Krutza, brother; Richard (Margaret) Hudy, Sister-in-law; Marie (James) Garbrecht, brother-in-law; Lawrence Yach, nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Leonard Hudy, sister & brother in laws, Evelyn Lopotko, Clara (Edward) Hintz, Grace (Stanley) Basinski, and Steve (Luella) Yach, Frances (Ernest) Slusarski & godson Mark Hudy.
John's family would like to thank the staff at St. Michael's Hospital & Emergency room, St. Clares Hospital, Ministry Hospice and the Stevens Point Paramedics for all of their care and support they provided.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday January 5, 2017, at the Pisarski Funeral Home 703 Second Street Stevens Point. Deacon Vern Linzmeier will officiate. Burial will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Pisarski Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family.
