John G. Napiwocki, 81, of Stevens Point, died Saturday, December 7, 2019 at the Portage County Health Care Center with his loving family by his side.
John was born on April 11, 1938 in East Chicago, Indiana, the second son of John and Anna (Kotolski) Napiwocki. He graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School and was employed at Consolidated Papers for 33 years prior to retiring in 2000.
In June 1958, he married the love of his life Shirley Gorski. His favorite times were spent with his family. He attended ball games, shows, graduations and special occasions with his family. John was known to be a loud fan and was happy to offer advice to umpires and sporting officials. He took great pride in the accomplishments of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
John was an avid Cubs fan. He enjoyed spending time outdoors camping, hunting and fishing. He was a skilled carpenter. He also kept a large weed-free garden and loved helping with family farming. He had the problem-solving mind of an engineer, creating jigs and tools to get jobs done. Some of his clever inventions remain in the garden shed. He was greatly loved and will be missed by many.
John is survived by his loving wife Shirley and three daughters: Faye (Dennis) Tetzloff, Kym Kutschke, and Judy Miller; six grandchildren: Isaac (Katie) Tetzloff, Aaron (Allie) Tetzloff, Liz Kutschke, Leah Kutschke (Bryan Engelbert), David (Kelli) Kutschke, and Edward Miller; four great-grandchildren: Emmett and Theo Tetzloff, and Kendall and Raegan Tetzloff; five brothers: Frank (Doris) Napiwocki, Bob (Yvonne) Napiwocki, Tom (Dee) Napiwocki, Jerry Napiwocki, and Dennis (Deb) Napiwocki; and two sisters: Rose (Phil) Grych, and Sandra (Gary) Kawleski.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Michael Napiwocki.
Private family services are being planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John's memory may be made directly to the family.
The family also wishes to thank the staff at St. Michael's Hospital and the Portage County Health Care Center and Ascension Hospice for the excellent care John received.
