John H. Stencel Sr., 77, of Durand, Ill., formerly of Chicago, Ill. and Rosholt, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was the loving father of Dianna (Ruben Guerrero) Stencel, Debra L. (Robert) Hanson, and John H. Stencel Jr.; beloved son of the late Valerie (nee Wanta) and the late Harry Stencel; fond grandfather of Ryan and Grace Hanson; dear brother of Robert "Bob" and Richard "Richie" Stencel, Lorraine (Rudy) Drifka and Kenneth "Kenny" Stencel; and beloved uncle, nephew and cousin to many.
A local funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Adalbert Catholic Church, Rosholt. Local visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will be in the St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery, Rosholt.
Another visitation will also be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, Ill.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 4709 Golf Road, No. 1015, Skokie, IL 60076 would be appreciated.
Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home in Stevens Point assisted the family locally.
