Joseph M. Check,
age 68, of 2147 Ellis Rd., Custer, passed on unexpectedly to his eternal Reward on Friday Feb. 9, 2007.
He was born June 16, 1938 to the late Bernard & Regina (Omernick) Check. He attended area grade schools and graduated from Rosholt High School in 1955.
A year later, he enlisted in the US Army and served as a Military Policeman, spending 17 months in Korea. He returned to Fort Gordon, Georgia as an instructor for a military government unit. He was honorably discharged on July 31, 1959.
His marriage to Elaine Zoromski took place on Sept. 26, 1959 at Sacred Heart Church in Polonia, and for all but one year the couple has lived in the Ellis area.
Joseph worked in the area as a bricklayer for 15 years prior to starting his own firm as a Masonry Contractor until Semi-Retiring in 1999.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing the concertina and listening to and playing Polka music.
A memorial in his name will be established at a later date.

Wendy (Tracy) Floistad of Amherst Junction &
Brenda (Scott) Olson of Ely, MN.
12 Grandsons: Joe (Becky) & Jason (Beth) Klismith, Matthew, Michael & Christopher Check, Jeremy, Shane & Kyle Floistad, Isaac, Jesse, Solomon & Elijah Olson.
1 Granddaughter: Lily Check.
1 Great Granddaughter: Kylie Klismith & 2 unborn great-grandchildren.
5 Brothers: Henry (Evelyn) of King, Nick (Ceil) of Stevens Point, Andrew of Ringle, Bernard (Pat) of Rothschild & Wallace (Linda) Check of Stevens Point.
5 Sisters: Josephine Pallen of Custer, Grace (Harry) Pliska of Stevens Point, Elizabeth Sullivan of Arizona, Theresa (Bill) Gorski of West Bend & Mary Wanserski of Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother & 1 sister.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home in Stevens Point. Rev. Herb Zoromski will officiate. A time for family and friends to gather will take place from 9:00 AM until the time of services Tuesday morning at the Funeral Home.
