Joseph P. Mrozek, age 88, of Mill Creek, died late Saturday evening, June 19, 2010, at the Portage County Health Care Center.
He was born on Dec. 25, 1921, in Michigan City, Indiana, to the late Joseph and Elinore (Sendarwski) Mrozek. On Sep. 26, 1942, he was married to Bernice Pionek at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Mill Creek.
Joseph had worked for the Point Bakery, was a farmer, and later worked for the Whiting/Plover Paper Mill for 29 years before his retirement. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice of Mill Creek; son, Don (Adeline) Mrozek of Junction City; daughter, Doreen (Joseph) Cegielski of River Falls; daughter, Geraldine (William) Markee of Junction City; son, Michael (Kris) Mrozek of Stevens Point; son, David (Patti) Mrozek of Custer; sister, Jennie Raykowski of Stevens Point; 23 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his son, James E. Mrozek; and his siblings, Stanley and Al Mrozek, Frances Raykowski and Dorothy Dix.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Mill Creek with the Rev. Dennis Stanchik officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home in Stevens Point and again on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time for Mass.
