Obituary

Kathleen J. Mrozinski, age 72, of 203 Linwood Ave, Stevens Point, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026, in her home, surrounded by the love and care of her daughter and granddaughter.

Born on January 8, 1954, in Stevens Point, to Anthony and Grace Plaski, Kathy spent her life deeply rooted in the community she proudly called home.

On August 18, 1973, Kathy married Ken Mrozinski, and together they shared 35 years of marriage until his passing in 2008.

In later years, Kathy shared a meaningful companionship of 13 years with Gary Elliott, with whom she enjoyed many happy moments, including treasured time spent together at the beach in Florida.

Kathy was a devoted mother and grandmother, known for her strong will, independence, and deep love for her family. She had a steady, resilient presence and was someone her family could always count on. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including gardening, reading, walking, and biking, and especially cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren.

For 38 years, Kathy dedicated herself to her career at Sentry, where she built lasting relationships and took pride in her work. She was also an active member of the community, serving as President of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Stevens Point Elks Lodge No. 641, a role that reflected her leadership, generosity, and commitment to service.

Kathy is survived by her daughter, Nicole (William) Filtz of Hatley, and her son, Bradley (Stephanie) Mrozinski of Trivoli; her cherished grandchildren, Austin, Emilee, Paul, Josh, and Angela; her sisters, Adeline (Bob) Zificsak of Plover, Pat (Larry) Mayek of Stevens Point, Marge (Duane) Schuster of Appleton, Janice (Mike) Kruzik of Minneapolis, and Lori (John) Omernik of Stevens Point; and her brothers, Chet (Joyce) Plaski of Stevens Point, Sam (Tammy) Plaski of Gold Canyon, Arizona, Tony Plaski of Stevens Point, Ed (Sharon) Plaski of Stevens Point, Lenny Plaski of Stevens Point, and Leroy (Tina) Plaski of Bay Minette, Alabama.

Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ken Mrozinski, and by Florence Zificsak and Esther Endres.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Heartland Hospice team for their compassionate care, guidance, and support during Kathy’s final days. Your kindness and dedication brought comfort to Kathy and her family and will always be deeply appreciated.

Kathy will be remembered for her strength, devotion to family, and the steady love she gave so freely. Her presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved her.
