Listen to Obituary

Kenneth James Zelinski of Junction City, WI died in his home in the loving arms of his wife on Oct. 19 th , 2018. He was 60 years old. Kenny was born on Feb. 3, 1958 in Stevens Point WI to his parents Chet and Esther Zelinski. He graduated from Stevens Point Area Senior High School. In his younger years he was known for his speed and athleticism. He played on both the SPASH football and baseball teams.

He was employed by SNE/ Vetter Window MFG for 33 years. Kenny was a proud member of the 'United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America'. Being highly respected as Union President and representative, Kenny received great satisfaction negotiating the rights of his fellow union members. He struggled with having to leave SNE early due to health issues. He developed a hobby that he turned into a business for buying/selling/trading collectible firearms with his son. "Zelinski's Guns & Collectibles LLC" could be found at firearm tradeshow's throughout the state. Kenny was a lifetime hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed passing his knowledge of the woods and water to his family and friends, especially his son Walker. As a young adult, he enjoyed playing softball for the local bar leagues. He shared his knowledge of the game and coached his daughter Samara. He married Jane Zakrzewski on October 10 th 1987. He always said that she "was his Amazing Grace". She survives.

He is also survived by his children Candis Schneider, Walker and Samara Zelinski, Granddaughters: Ivy, Maddy and Ella, Parents: Chet and Esther Zelinski, his sister's Susan (Eric) Ristow, Lynn (Dan) Sawyer and brother Jeff (Sonia) Zelinski. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews & his "favorite dog" Willy. He is preceded in death by his grandparents.

At age 22 Kenny was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He received fully body radiation, with the doctor saying it would give him another 20 years. Kenny lived another 38 years. He suffered the side effects of this treatment for the rest of his life. Kenny's strong faith guided him through these difficult times. "He (God) helped me live out my miracle, being able to see my children grow up." is something he said often.

Kenny will be remembered as always having a smile on his face, even while in the hospital. As a simple, hardworking man who never complained about his pain. Being a country boy at heart, who always dressed casually, we ask that you wear casual, comfortable clothing to his funeral.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Marshfield Medical Center for all their efforts throughout the years.
