Wattron, Kent S. (Jerry)
75, was peacefully called home to Heaven on Monday, September 24, 2007 at Century Oaks in Appleton, WI after an extended illness.

Jerry was born on December 26, 1931 in Bakersfield, CA and grew up in Eugene, Oregon. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1949 until 1953 as a Photographer for Naval Intelligence aboard the submarine tender the USS Fulton.

He married the love of his life, Nancy Neary on September 4, 1954 at Visitation Church in Chicago, and they recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary.

Jerry was employed as an industrial refrigeration technician for most of his career, including the York division of Borg-Warner in Chicago, the H.J. Heinz company in Schaumburg, IL, and last worked as manager of boiler and refrigeration at Ore-Ida Foods in Plover, WI from 1978 until his retirement in 1992.

Throughout his life Jerry demonstrated great strength, love, and courage. He was often the first to lend a helping hand to others in need. He enjoyed studying religious philosophy including Eckankar. Jerry loved animals, especially dogs. He was a member of the Collector Club of Chicago and the Germany Philatelic Society, winning international awards for his collection of World War II postal covers.

Later in life he enjoyed collecting Hummel figurines and trap shooting. Jerry was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. One of his favorite pastimes was going for Sunday afternoon drives in the country with his family.

Jerry is survived by his wife Nancy (Neary) Wattron; one brother Ted (Marion)Wattron, Jacksonville, FL; five sons: Michael, Steven, Jerry, Daniel and James; and one daughter, Mary Dirkse; three grandchildren; and other special people including Roger Dirkse and Renee Wattron.

The funeral mass for Jerry will be held at 10:00 am Saturday September 29, 2007 at St. Peter's Church in Stevens Point, WI with Rev. Kevin Louis officiating. Burial will be at the Guardian Angels Cemetery. Friends may call at the Pisarski-Dzikoski Funeral Home in Stevens Point on Friday evening from 4 pm to 8 pm and at the church from 9:00 am until the time of mass. The Knights of Columbus #1170 will combine with a general rosary at 7:00 PM friday Eve. at Pisarski Funeral Home.

The family would like to extend tremendous thanks to the loving staff for care provided at Century Oaks in Darboy, the entire ThedaCare Hospice staff, and the multitude of nurses and doctors that assisted Jerry for the past three years.
