Lawrence G. "Larry" Kawlewski, age 64, of Stevens Point, died on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Larry was born on September 25, 1953 in Stevens Point, to Sylvester and Lucille (Liebe) Kawlewski. He attended schools in Stevens Point.
Larry enlisted in the United States Marines in 1977 serving his country proudly. He was honorably discharged in 1981 and upon his return to the Stevens Point area, he went to work at Jimmy Janowski Construction as a Carpenter. Over the years, he honed his carpentry skills and was most recently employed at CAP Services until his diagnosis. Larry enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, an occasional trip to the casino and traveling. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and family but most especially, being with his grandchildren.
Larry is survived by his daughters; Becca Kawlewski of Mosinee, Courtney "C J" Getzloff of Waupaca and Hanna Kawlewski of Stevens Point; two granddaughters, Ahliyana "Ahli Bug" Getzloff and Destiny Darnick; siblings and step-siblings, Betty Cornwell, Roseville, MN , Shirley (Bob) Niemczyk, Plainfield, Mildred (Roger) Zblewski, Plover, Judy Kropidlowski & Tom (Cheryl) Kawlewski, Stevens Point, Rose Salvinski, Mosinee, Ken (Audrey) Kawlewski, South Beliot, IL ,Dan (Laurie) Kawlewski, Bancroft, Linda (Randy) Krutza, Belvidere, IL , Debra Kluck, Plover, Jessie Kawlewski, Milladore, Ricky Bella & Joe (Jackie) Bella of Plover, Irene Peterson, Stevens Point and Jason Hahn and David Bella both of Wisconsin Rapids; numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Brother, Donald Kawlewski; and three brothers-in-law, Joe Salvinski, Arlen "Corky" Kluck and Dave Cornwell.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM at the Pisarski Funeral Home, 703 Second Street, Stevens Point, WI 54481 on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 with burial and military honors at the Lone Pine Cemetery in Bancroft. Friends and family are invited to call from 4:00PM-7:00PM at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 and again on Wednesday from 9:30 until the time of service.
