Leonard J. Firkus, 84, of Stevens Point, passed away peacefully at home on July 14, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on December 6, 1932, in Stevens Point, to the late August and Pearl (Pezewski) Firkus. On October 20, 1959, his marriage to Elaine Kedrowski took place at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church-Fancher, in Amherst. Elaine preceded Leonard in death on September 4, 2013.
Leonard lived and worked on the family farm until he was hired as a Construction Laborer at the Consolidated River Division which he retired from after 49 years.
He enjoyed shaking dice, fishing, hunting, going to the casinos, camping at Fish Lake in Hancock and vegetable picking (he was known to be the "Carrot Man"). He liked socializing with family and friends at the local church picnics and favorite hangouts.
Survivors include; daughter Debbie (Ron) Biga; and sons, Duane (Alice) and Dale; special companion, Boston Terrier Max; grandchildren, Jessica (Dan) Mancel, Nathan, Adam, Ashley (Travis) Spillman, Brandon; step-grandchild Jesse, great-grandchildren, Maddy and Mitch; sisters Helen Kropidlowski and Evelyn (Andrew) Smrz; sister-in-law Betty (Edwin) Damask and brother-in-law Richard (Colleen) Kedrowski; and many nieces and nephews.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; mother-and-father-in-law Ben and Laura Kedrowski; brothers, Walter and Joseph and brother-in-law Robert Kropidlowski; and sisters-in-laws, Bernice and Joyce.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday July 19, 2017, at Holy Spirit Parish in Stevens Point with Rev. Placid Stroik officiating. Private burial will take place in Guardian Angel Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time for Mass.

Leonard has always been known to be a kind and giving man, but finally he realized that it was his "Time to Go to Bed!" which his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and close friends recall was his most favorite saying.
