Marcella I. Herek

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Marcella “Marcie” Herek, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, who passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, June 11, 2026, after facing declining health in recent months. Throughout her life, Marcie was a source of unwavering kindness, strength, faith, and compassion to all who were blessed to know her.

On May 26, 1973, Marcie married Myron Herek. Together, they built a beautiful life rooted in faith, family, and hard work, recently celebrating 53 years of marriage. Side by side, they owned and operated their dairy farm, Spring Green Meadows, where they devoted themselves to caring for the land, their animals, and the family they cherished so deeply.

Above all else, Mom's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother to Lynnette and Jamie, pouring her heart into raising and supporting them throughout their lives. Her love continued to grow through her grandchildren, Mikaela, Lexington, Evan, Jaxson, and Brielle, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She was also a proud and loving “Granny” to her great-grandsons, Waylon and Walker, cherishing every smile, hug, and precious moment spent with them.

Marcie had a remarkable gift for preserving life's most treasured memories. As a professional wedding photographer for more than 20 years, she captured countless celebrations, milestones, and special moments. Through her lens, she shared her ability to find beauty in everyday life and gave others keepsakes they would treasure for generations.

One of Mom's favorite ways to show her love was through cooking. She spent countless hours in the kitchen with her children and grandchildren gathered around her, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Some of our family's favorite dishes included her hearty chili, barbecues, and beef stew. Every summer, we eagerly anticipated her homemade zucchini bread and rhubarb torte, while Christmas celebrations were never complete without “Auntie Marc's” signature pistachio torte. Her kitchen was the heart of the home, a place filled with laughter, conversation, and the simple joy of being together.

The Catholic faith was the foundation of Mom's life. A devoted member of The Society of St. Pius X, she lived her beliefs through service, compassion, and prayer. Praying the Rosary each day and reading from her prayer book were deeply important to her, and she frequently offered those prayers, Rosaries, and Mass intentions for family members, friends, and anyone in need. She also generously donated her time and talents to Saint Don Bosco Boys and Girls Camp, touching many lives through her dedication and caring spirit. Her steadfast faith guided her throughout her life and served as an inspiration to those around her.

Music and singing were also among Mom's greatest passions. She delighted in making up special songs for each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, bringing smiles to their faces and laughter to their hearts. She was a talented vocalist who performed with the Master Chorale in Stevens Point for several years, sharing her beautiful voice and appreciation of music with others.

Marcie was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Kizewski; her mother, Isabelle Kizewski; her father-in-law, Edwin Herek; her mother-in-law, Verona Herek; and her brother-in-law, Dennis Barden.

She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Myron Herek; her children, Lynnette (John Steier) and Jamie; her grandchildren, Mikaela (Alex) Zdroik, Lexington, Evan, Jaxson, and Brielle Koenigs; her great-grandsons, Waylon and Walker Zdroik; her siblings, Marlene (Ron) Lech, Tony (Marlene) Kizewski, Romie (Judy) Kizewski, Larry Kizewski, Sue Kizewski, Rose Rzentkowski, and Cindy Barden.

We will remember Mom for her warm heart, unwavering faith, generous spirit, and the care she so freely gave to others. Her legacy lives on in the family she treasured, the friendships she nurtured, the memories she preserved, and the countless lives she touched. Though our hearts are broken by her loss, we find peace in knowing she was welcomed into the loving arms of the Blessed Mother and Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She is now at rest and reunited with those who have gone before her, including her very special friend and mentor in faith Guido del Rose who she missed so dearly every day.

Our family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital and the dedicated care team at Moments Hospice for the exceptional care, kindness, and support they provided to our mother during her final days. Their professionalism, genuine concern, and tender care brought peace not only to Mom, but also to our entire family during a difficult and emotional time. We are deeply grateful for the dignity, respect, and compassion they showed her, and we will always remember the comfort they provided when it was needed most.

Rest peacefully, dear Mom. Your love, strength, and faith will continue to guide us every day. We love you big as heaven and miss you more than words can express. May the angels watch over you and keep you safe until we meet again.

A Traditional Latin Mass will be held for Marcie at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Pisarski Community Funeral Home, 2911 Plover Road, Plover. A visitation for family and friends will be from 9:30 AM until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Rosary for Marcie will be prayed at 9:00 a.m. Burial will take place in Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery in Custer. Pisarski Funeral Homes are honored to be serving the Herek Family.
