Martha A. Drapes

Martha A. Drapes, 98, of Stevens Point, died Friday, Sep. 26, 2014, at the Stevens Point Care Center.

She was born on Dec. 6, 1915, in Mill Creek, to the late John and Proxceda (Slowinski) Glaza. On June 19, 1937, her marriage to Emil Drapes took place at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. Emil died on May 2, 2001.

Martha had worked in the fabric department at JCPenney's before her retirement. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking and was a member of the St. Peter's Rosary Society for over 50 years, a member of the JCPenney's retirement group that met for breakfast and she had also volunteered at the Goodwill store for many years.

Survivors include son, Patrick of Greenfield; son, Jim of Plover; daughter, Shirley (Bob) Krentz of Fort Atkinson; and son, David (Beth) Drapes of Shorewood; daughter-in-law, Shirley Drapes of Stevens Point; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Martha, the last surviving of 10 children, was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, LeRoy; grandson, Michael; and nine siblings.

The family thanks the staff at the Stevens Point Care Center for their care of Martha. She enjoyed her time there very much, especially the activities program.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Stevens Point with the Rev. Arul Joseph V. officiating. Burial will follow in Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home, 703 Second Street, Stevens Point, and again in the St. Faustina Room of the church on Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time for Mass. The St. Peter's Rosary Society will combine with the parish rosary to be prayed at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
