Mary Louise "Marylou" Maslakow, age 92, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of her children, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, and granddaughter. She departed this life eager to be reunited with her beloved husband, Victor. This exceptional woman and phenomenal mother will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, July 1st, 2026 at St. Bronislava Catholic Church-3200 Plover Road, Plover. Visitation will be held at Pisarski Funeral Home, 2911 Plover Road, Plover, on Wednesday from 8:30 AM until the time of services. There will be a procession at approximately 10:00 AM over to the church from the funeral home. A private inurnment will be held in Guardian Angel Cemetery. 

Born on August 25, 1933, to the late John and Corona (nee Stephanic) Gollon, Marylou approached life with boundless energy, warmth, and determination. Raised in a large and humble household she quickly became a resourceful and hardworking individual. Her intelligence, innate goodness, and creativity served as her guiding lights.

Driven by a deep desire to learn more and expand herself, Marylou took the bold step of enrolling at the University of Wisconsin. She made history in her family as its first college graduate. While at the UW, she fully immersed herself in campus life, balancing rigorous studies with numerous student clubs. She financed her education through various campus positions—including a memorable role in the entomology lab—and lived in a bustling women's cooperative house just a block from Camp Randall Stadium. Eventually, she used her degree in Business Administration to work in the insurance industry as a high valued underwriter for large groups. She enjoyed her work so much that she didn't retire until the age of 80, only letting her co-workers in on her age as she walked out the door for the last time.

It was during her time at the university that Marylou met the handsome recent graduate, Victor, who would quickly win her heart. Their romance stood the test of time and distance; meeting just weeks before his deployment to Korea, they wrote to each other nearly daily and married upon his safe return over a year later.

As a military spouse, Marylou embraced the adventure of relocating to various stations. Her most vibrant chapter spent in France, where two of her five children were born. She often reminisced about the simple joy of buying fresh baguettes every day, remarking they were the best she ever had. These early years of marriage were filled with lively bridge parties, dancing, and elegant tea parties with fellow officers' wives. Eventually, she and Victor returned to Wisconsin, raising their family across Madison, Whitefish Bay, and Wausau.

The heartbreak of losing two cherished siblings at an early age shaped Marylou into becoming an unwaveringly devoted and protective mother. Her primary focus was the health, safety, and happiness of her five children. She was proactive in her care, always staying one step ahead of any health concern and researching the best doctors and procedures. Her legendary safety warnings and real-time weather alerts became a source of ongoing humor and affection for her children and grandchildren, serving as a constant reminder of her staunch dedication to their well being. She also went to incredible lengths to enhance her children's lives, enrolling them in every available enrichment class—from art and music to dance, swimming, and skating—encouraging each child to discover their talents and pursue their dreams. Throughout her life her door was always open for family (and their dogs). When they came to see her she gave them her attention, advice, a good cup of coffee and, likely, some delicious soup or some meal she whipped up, without a moment's notice, as if by magic.

Marylou excelled at everything she touched. Whether she was cooking, gardening, sewing, planning elaborate birthday parties, leading a Cub Scout troop, or tackling home renovations, she combined natural talent with an indefatigable work ethic. She saw no problem as insurmountable and came up with solutions that would make MacGyver proud. Her family often wished they could bottle her extraordinary energy which lasted into her late 80's. Her legacy of love, resilience, and generosity will live on through the family she adored so deeply.

Marylou is survived by her sister Adeline Kenowski, Plover; her five loving children, John (Diane) Maslakow, Plover, WI; Paul (Gayle) Maslakow, Watersmeet, MI; Renee (Jim) Ogurek, Weeki Wachee, FL; Julie (Tom) Rehbeck,Brookfield, WI; and Lori (Steve) Scott, Lake Forest, IL; twelve grandchildren, Courtney Scott (Adam Epstein), Lauren Scott (John McConnell), Kati Rehbeck, John Rehbeck, Alex (Anna) Ogurek, Craig (Maura) Ogurek, Rachael Maslakow, Nicole Maslakow, Taylor Newhouse, Amanda Maslakow, Christina Maslakow, Marina Maslakow); seven great-grandchildren ( Jonah, Easton, Hayden, Brooke, Alyssa, Isabel, and Arya); and her beloved grand-dogs Nellie, Oscar, Monster, Fitz, Grace, and Paisley. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and good friends. Marylou was preceded in death by her husband, Victor, her mother and father, and her siblings Raymond, Richard, John, Clifford, Cecelia Delores, Patricia, and Cecelia.
