Mary J. Tekowski

Mary Jean Tekowski, 77 of Stevens Point, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2026. She was born on April 25, 1949 to the late Edward and Anna (Wozniak) Tekowski in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

Mary graduated from Maria High School in Stevens Point. As a little girl, she was a proud member of the Girl Scouts of America. Mary went on to obtain her CNA license through Mid-State Technical College in 1975. She worked locally at Saint Michael’s Hospital and in adult care at River Pines (of Portage County).

Caring for others was an important part of Mary’s life. She dutifully cared for her parents when their health failed them. Mary was very strong in her Catholic faith. She often prayed her rosary and for those she loved. She was a long time member of Saint Stanislaus Catholic Church, now known as Holy Spirit Catholic Church. During her active days with the church, she volunteered her time to the parish picnics and various events.  

Mary enjoyed birds, especially parakeets. She owned 4 parakeets until she was no longer able to. They held a special place in her heart. Mary was known for her style. She loved colorful jewelry and getting dressed up. She also loved to crochet.

A special thank you goes out to the kind and caring staff at Heartland Hospice and those working at Dimensions Senior Living. The love and compassion you showed to Mary was greatly appreciated.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Donald, and many close friends.

She is survived by her dear friends, Pam and Roman, as well as many other caring friends and extended family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mary at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 29, 2026 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 2151 Stanley Street, Stevens Point. Father Dan Oudenhoven will preside. There will be a visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow in Guardian Angel Cemetery. Pisarski Funeral Homes are honored to be serving the Tekowski Family.
