She was a strong, spirited woman who survived breast cancer and was steadfast in what she believed to be right or wrong.

Mary M. Worzalla of Stevens Point, died peacefully on Friday morning, September 18th at Stevens Point Health Services at the age of 83.

She was born in Stevens Point on June 16th, 1943 to Margaret (Halkoski) Strasser and Joe Strasser. She was united in marriage with Dennis Worzalla on February 8, 1964. He preceded her in death in 2022. She is also preceded in death by her younger brother, Thomas "Tommy" Strasser who passed in 2018, and her close friend of many years, Gretchen Yach earlier this year.

After graduating from Maria High School in 1964, Mary enjoyed a great deal of her life as a mother and grandmother, as well as taking care of many local children in her home as a childcarer in the community. She traveled often with Dennis, in particular with her best friend Joanie Montie, and on girls weekends with close friends and family.

Favorite moments in her life, aside from spending time with her family, were her times spent gardening, baking, and playing cards with her friends. She also enjoyed knit crafts, puzzles, and going on day-trip adventures. Toward the end of her life, she appreciated all of the kind faces at Festival Foods and Metro Market who recognized her every Friday, and enjoyed rides through nature.

She was a strong, spirited woman who survived breast cancer and was steadfast in what she believed to be right or wrong. Mary was not afraid to speak her mind, and easily commanded a room, and this carried on throughout her life across its various trials and tribulations. Mary enjoyed music, dancing, and art--particularly Elvis, Frank Sinatra, and Patsy Cline. Her best mornings were spent watching the Today Show, drinking her morning coffee, and checking on her plants outside before deciding how her day was going to go.

She is survived by her children Michael (Carla) Worzalla and Denise Worzalla-Rocha; her grandchildren Karissa Friday, Hallie Worzalla, Jessica (Rocha) Bemowski and Maggi Rocha; and three great grandchildren Shane, Ben, and Kessa. Further survived by sisters in law Katherine Bemowski, Nancy Millard, Mel Worzalla, and Carol Church; brothers in law Paul Worzalla and Mike Keel; best friend Joanie; many nieces and nephews--and, of course, her baby dog, Ms. Fluffy.

Special thanks to the hospice team at Heartland, and especially the care team Stevens Point Health Services for making her final months as comfortable as possible, and for going above and beyond to be caring and communicative for the family. They made a very difficult time a great deal easier.

Funeral services for Mary will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Pisarski Funeral Home 703 Second Street Stevens Point. Deacon Ray Heitzinger will officiate.
