Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our beloved mother, treasured grandmother, beautiful daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, and friend – Melanie Marie Liebe, age 46, who passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Froedert Hospital, Milwaukee, with her father and her aunt at her side. Melanie is no longer suffering, and now rests in the hands of our Heavenly Father. On October 29, 2025, while enroute to Aspirus St. Michael’s for an appointment, Melanie suffered a seizure and was involved in a horrific automobile accident. She was airlifted to Wausau Aspirus Hospital and had been hospitalized since October 29.

Melanie Marie was born on June 7, 1979 to Donald Liebe and Julianne (Gollon) Holmes. She grew up in the Stevens Point area and attended Benjamin Franklin Junior High School and Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH). Melanie was employed at Arby’s South at the time of her accident. She was a dedicated, hard worker, who was loved by all she encountered.

Melanie was the proud mother of three children – Valarie (Aaron) Cannon, Heber Springs, Arkansas; Ryan Thayer (Jammie) Damascus, Arkansas; and Madison Dwyer, South Saint Paul, Minnesota. She is further survived by two grandsons – Brayden and Kayson Cannon. Her parents, Donald Liebe, and Julianne (Gollon) Holmes and stepfather Richard Holmes, Fort Collins, Colorado, also survive, as well has her maternal grandmother, Helen Gollon, Plover, and her sister Tricia (Liebe) and brother-in-law, Eric McCoy, Villa Rica, Georgia. Surviving nieces and nephews include James (Keisha) Liebe, Plover; Adrianna McCoy, and Madalynn McCoy, Villa Rica, Georgia. Melanie was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Clifford Gollon, Plover, and paternal grandparents, Ray and Lorraine Liebe, Stevens Point.

Melanie was a simple soul who enjoyed the beauty of nature and everything around her. She appreciated all her friendships and those who cared for her. Melanie was a selfless individual who would do whatever she could for her children with whatever means she had. She had great love, pride, and respect for her family.

The family extends their gratitude to Fr. Marion Talaga, who blessed Melanie and kept her in his daily prayers; to our great aunt, Darlene Drewa, who spent countless hours at Melanie’s side at Aspirus Wausau Hospital and Milwaukee’s Froedert Hospital through these past 11 weeks. Gratitude is further extended to the doctors, nurses, emergency staff, etc. at these two facilities, who cared extensively for our mother. Thank you to all friends and family members who took time to visit our mother and kept her in their prayers.

A memorial service for Melanie, led by Fr. Marion Talaga, will be held at Pisarski Funeral Home on Monday, January 26th, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM with the service to follow after at 11:00 AM. Pisarski Funeral Homes is honored to be serving the Liebe Family.

Our mother had little means. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to contribute in our mother’s memory are asked to contribute to the Melanie Liebe Memorial. We thank you for keeping our beautiful mother in your thoughts and prayers. God bless.
