Mona R. (Reichert) Yulga

MONA R. (REICHERT) YULGA,

of Stevens Point, died February 25, 2007, at St. Michael's Hospital in Stevens Point at age 86. Mona was born March 13, 1920 in Marathon County. She was the daughter of the late Herman & Pauline (NEE: Daul) Reichert. She attended grade schools in Marshfield, Wis. and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in Stevens Point. She also attended the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point for 2 years, and attended University of Wisconsin – Whitewater where she received her B. E. degree in 1942. Mona married Bernard F. Yulga on June 7, 1945 at St. John's Catholic Church in Marshfield. After their marriage, the couple settled in Stevens Point. Her husband, Bernard, preceded her in death in 1977. Mona was a teacher, and taught school in the Birchwood School District, at Granton High School, and at Mid-State Technical College in Stevens Point for 22 years until her retirement in 1983.

Mona was a member and Past President of the Stevens Point Retired Teachers Association and was active in volunteer work through the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program. She was also a member of St. Anne's Altar Society of St. Joseph's Parish, the Catholic Daughters of America, and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary Msgr. McGinley Council #1170.

Throughout her many years, Mona enjoyed nature, especially loons, fishing and camping, playing the piano, reading, Boy Scouting, flower gardening, playing bridge, and volunteer work. As a teacher, she made a difference. She lived a rich, full life and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established to fund a scholarship at University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for a future teacher.

Mona was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard, 1 son, Donald F. Yulga,
3 brothers and 2 sisters.

FUNERAL MASS; 10:30 am Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Rev. Al Burkardt officiating. Burial will be in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Family and Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home, and from 9:30 am Wednesday at St. Joseph's Church until the time for Mass.
The Catholic Daughters of America, and St. Anne's Altar Society will combine with the parish rosary Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm. Online condolences may be directed to www.pisarskifuneralhome.com.
