Oscar E. Hopp Jr., age 80, of Plover, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Oscar was born April 17, 1935 in Stevens Point to the late Oscar H. Hopp Sr. and Esther E. (Laskowski) Gawlik. On August 13, 1955, his marriage to Patricia A. Krueger took place at St. Bronislava Catholic Church, Plover.
Oscar worked for Consolidated Papers in Wisconsin Rapids, retiring in December of 1994. After his retirement from the paper mill, Oscar worked for Spectra Print Corp. for 15 years doing deliveries.
Some of his interests were attending and cheering on various sporting events of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed deer/moose hunting, watching NASCAR and a special event every year that dad liked to take part of was the making of maple syrup with some friends. He also was the "goal judge" for the men's UWSP Hockey Team at the KB Willett arena for 32 years.
He is survived by two sons, Randy Hopp Plover, Ryan (Jo) Hopp Menomonie and one daughter Roxann (Kraig) Brooks Plover; one brother Harold (Donna) Hopp Plover and two sisters Germaine (Bill) Krueger Plover and Norma Thomas Arkansas.
Oscar also has eight grandchildren, Eric (Amy) Hopp, Ashley (Jasen) Kubowski, Brodie (Micaela) Brooks, Korryn (Bryan) Dean, and Patricia, Zachary, Toby and Ryann Elaine Hopp.
His seven great-grandchildren are, Collin, Kasey & Tanner Brooks; Caedyn & Beckett Dean; Hallie Kubowski and Aalia Hopp
He is proceeded in death by his wife Patricia, his brother Melvin his nephew Jerry and his parents.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the IMC & Palliative Care units of Aspirus Wausau hospital, Atrium Senior Living Center, and Stevens Point Care Center for the wonderful care Oscar was given during his time with them.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday February 8, 2016, at St Bronislava Catholic Church 3200 Plover Road Plover. Monsignor Jeffrey Burrill will officiate. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Pisarski Community Funeral Home 2911 Plover Road Plover and again on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. Parish rosary prayed at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
