IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia (Pat) J.
Edgerton
February 22, 1942 – December 7, 2025
Patricia (Pat) Edgerton, 83 of Whiting, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025.
Pat was born and raised in Madison, WI, the daughter of Robert (Bob) and Rosemary Klein. She graduated from Madison West High School in 1960 and attended the University of WI Madison.
Pat married John (Jack) Edgerton on July 8, 1961. They were married for more than 64 years. She moved to Stevens Point, WI in 1962 where she made a loving home for their family.
Pat’s passion for childcare led to more than 40 years of providing child and infant care to hundreds of local children in her home. She prided herself as a licensed daycare owner and became the first state and federally accredited infant care provider in the state of WI. A great part of her legacy as ‘Gramma Pat’ will be the positive impact she had on the lives of all of those children.
Throughout her life, she participated in numerous organizations including Junior Women’s Club, Sweet Adeline’s and Operation Bootstrap. She volunteered managing the gift shop at St Michael’s Hospital for many years. She handled the payroll and accounts payable for Tomorrow’s Children in Waupaca. Later in life she worked at Michael’s for several years, enjoying assisting customers and enhancing the store’s appearance.
Pat enjoyed a number of hobbies including knitting, sewing, baking and shopping. She maintained a beautiful home including yard work and gardening. She collected and sold various items over the internet which led to her becoming a respected dispute resolution mediator on a number of platforms helping hundreds of people resolve financial disputes nationally and internationally. She loved participating in the annual ‘world’s largest trivia contest’ hosting a team (Useless Information) in her home for many years.
Pat’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy. She was an avid supporter of their activities, never missing a sporting event, dance recital or concert.
In addition to her husband, Pat is survived by her five children, Denise (Mike) Kachel, Onalaska, Jay (Wendy) Edgerton, Oshkosh, Debbie (Randy) Groh, Omro, Darci (Dan) Jurgella, Plover, and Dena (Scot) Barton, Stevens Point, 13 grandchildren, Jeff (Dana) Sadlemyer, Jim (Kacey Pennycook) Sadlemyer, Sara (Tom) Frazer, Chris (Lauren) Kachel, Tim (Ellie) Kachel, Molly (Kyle) Phelan, Michael (Jenna) Jurgella, Lauren (Zach) Jensen, Brett (Marnee) Barton, Eva Barton, Kalina (Dan Van) Roland, Grant (Kim) Roland, Kayleigh (JJ) Araiza, and 16 great-grandchildren, Sawyer Sadlemyer, Atleigh Sadlemyer, Nolan Frazer, Addison Frazer, Greyson Frazer, Tate Kachel, Will Kachel, Ben Kachel, Olivia Phelan, Jackson Jurgella, McKenzie Jurgella, Skylar Jensen, Raelynn Roland, Haisleigh Araiza, Kash Araiza, Krue Araiza, Brother Tom (Kathy) Klein, Sisters Joan (Bob) Fuller, Jane Staude, Sister Susan Klein, Sister-in-law Linda Klein and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Robert (Bud) Klein.
We would like to thank the wonderful caregivers and staff at Whispering Pines, Heartland Hospice and St. Croix Hospice for providing Pat a warm and caring home away from home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be set up in Pat’s name at a later date.
