Paul D. Schirz, 86, devoted husband of Shelby, peacefully passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026, surrounded by family at House of the Dove by Compassus in Marshfield.

Born June 15, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois. He was the oldest of five children of the late Paul N. and Loretta (Curtin) Schirz. He graduated from Purdue University with a B.S. in Pharmacy in four years by taking over twenty hours per semester and going to summer school. Now it takes eight years to become a pharmacist. He graduated from Marquette High School and St. Francis grade school in Ottawa, IL, always with high grades. He had the distinction of appearing on the front page of the Chicago Daily Tribune, along with his Mom, his Aunt Dorothy, and his first cousin, Jerry. The headline was: TWIN COUSINS, BORN AT LITTLE COMPANY OF MARY!

He was married to Marlene (Potash) Schirz on September 2, 1961, in Berwyn, IL and raised three children. The couple lived in the Chicago area for eight years, moving to Rudolph in 1972 and finally settling in Plover. He initially worked at Hannon Pharmacy and many others, eventually becoming a pharmacist at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, where he worked for over ten years. After 42 years of marriage, Marlene preceded him in death on February 25, 2003.

On November 25, 2005 he married Shelby (Emerich) Schirz at St. Philip’s Church in Rudolph, and enjoyed a beautiful partnership and marriage over the next twenty-one years.

He is survived by his loving wife Shelby, children, Elizabeth (Lisa) Schirz, of Arcadia, CA, Amy Jeanty (Vic), of Fond du Lac, WI, Andrew Schirz (Bev), of Pella, IA. His siblings, Thomas A. Schirz (Katie), Ann Blackburn, John Schirz (Judy), and Rita Workman. He was also a proud Grandpa of David Schirz, Casey and Katie Nash, and Maria, Niko, and Benny (Madi) Schirz and their daughter, Ellie Schirz, along with special step grandchildren, Samantha (Sam) and Donovan Froehlich, Shannon, Ryan and Jordan Heil, and Aiden and Aubrey Emerich.
