Phyllis A. Szymkowiak, 94, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday July 19, 2026.
Phyllis was born on March 17, 1932, to Evelyn (Cisewski) and Edwin Konopacki. She married Ferdinand Szymkowiak on May 31, 1954. Fritz passed on November 17, 2002.
Her biggest joy and accomplishment in her life, being an only child-she made sure that she was leaving as many precious footprints on this earth as possible.
Together, she and Fritz raised four wonderful children and ten grandchildren.

Continuing her legacy with 17 (almost 18) Great Grandchildren
Hannah, Gracie, Stephen, Evelyn, Isabel, Elizabeth, Lucille, Emma, Bailey, MacKenzie, Jordan, Mason, Johnny, Josie, Peyton, Heath, and Blake. Coming in December, her first Great great grandson, Liem
Preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Phyllis genuinely enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, her bingo buddies and her beloved cat, Minnie Moo. She was also a member of the Holy Spirit Rosary Society for more than 60 years. For many years she played drums with her husband in a small band known as the “Jolly Polka Masters”
Memorials will be set up later for the Portage County Humane Society as well as the Children’s Lunch program of Stevens Point
A Mass of Christian Burial For Phyllis will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday July 23, 2026. Visitation will be held in the St. Faustina Room at St. Peter Parish from 9:00AM until the time of services with a Rosary being prayed to start the visitation at 9:00AM. Fr.
