A much-loved husband, Dad, Papa, uncle, son, brother (brother in-law), and special friend to many, Randy Thompson, 70, of the Town of Carson, passed away peacefully and courageously on January 17th, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Randy was a man of integrity, honesty, and warmth. A true craftsman through and through, he was someone many looked up to—not only for what he knew, but for who he was. He taught others that hard work, that standing up for your family, and that doing things right matters. The warmth of Randy’s spirit lives on in all who knew him and in the lessons he shared throughout his life, even long-lasting friendships that stretched across the ocean wide.
Randy enjoyed many adventures, including elk hunting in Colorado, motorcycle riding, racing his Snow Jet, trips to Sturgis, and attending Daytona Beach Jeep Week. He loved riding around on his 8N tractor, yearly four wheeling trips with the Wild Hogs and traveling to Nashville, Florida, and Arizona. His greatest joy, however, was time spent with his family—Sunday cookouts, gardening, taking his grandchildren hunting, rides on the side by side, picnicking, tending to his birds and sharing countless special adventures. Family was his life.
Randy was born in Stevens Point on February 11th, 1955, to Patricia and the late Kenneth Thompson. He graduated from Stevens Point Area Senior High School in 1974 and went on to earn his associate degree from Mid-State Technical College. Over the years, Randy worked at Emmons Stationery, Whiting-Plover Paper, and Ore-Ida/McCain Foods.
Randy is survived by the love of his life of 46 years, Sandra (Zarecki) Thompson; daughters Tonya Thompson (Jason Rozak), Tiffany Levandowski, Terra Thompson; and son Travis Thompson (Ashley Coen). He was a proud Papa to his grandchildren Carter, Carson, Colton, and Camdyn Thompson, and he will also be missed by his loving pets—Willow, Harvest, and Mia.
The lessons Randy shared, the way he treated people, and the example he set are reminders of how each of us can strive to make the world just a little better.
“A soulmate never truly leaves, as they become a part of who we are.”
