Richard Joseph Zakoski, 86, devoted husband of Delores (Kawski) Zakoski, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, the city where he was born and spent his life.

Richard lived a full and meaningful life rooted in faith, family, and craftsmanship. Born on October 17, 1939, in Stevens Point, Richard was the eldest of three children of the late Joseph and Delphine (Bembenek) Zakoski. He attended Pacelli High School in Stevens Point, where he developed the values of dedication and hard work that would define his life. A gifted carpenter and woodcarver, Richard's skilled hands and keen eye for detail produced creations that were both artistic and precise, bringing joy to those fortunate enough to experience them. On May 7, 1960, Richard married Delores Kawski at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Together, they built a loving home in Stevens Point. Richard began his career at Weber Tackle before joining Wisconsin Public Service Corporation, where he worked until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an active member of the Wisconsin River Wood Carvers.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 66 years (the lady that he loved as he would say) Delores; his children: Carleen Patton (Tony), Kevin Zakoski (Tami), Thomas Zakoski, and Christine Zakoski (Per Dobbe); six grandchildren: Brianna Hekrdle (Brad), Bryce Patton, Jeffrey Zakoski (Lauren), Jonathan Zakoski (Bridgette, Jacob Zakoski (Taylor), and Karisa Zakoski; and four great-grandchildren:

Jackson and Henry Hekrdle, Lizzy Zakoski, and Callahan Zakoski. He is also survived by his sister Mary Ann Sankey. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Virginia Zakoski; his cherished daughter-in-law Jenny Zakoski; and several in-laws. May Richard's memory bring comfort to all who knew him. As his great-grandchild Jackson lovingly said: "Grandpa is starting his new life in Heaven"
