Roland "Rollie" W. Diehl

82, of Stevens Point, died March 4, 2013 at Ministry St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield. He was the son of the late William and Ann (Katzer) Diehl. He attended school at Messmer High School in Milwaukee. In his senior year in 1948, he was an all-conference selection on both the football and basketball teams, each went on to win the state championship that year. This earned him an athletic scholarship at Marquette University...his marriage to Carol Bartl took place on February 16, 1963 at St. Pius Catholic Church in Milwaukee. Soon after being discharged from the service, he took a job with Sentry Insurance and worked there for 33 years.

He was committed to promoting
Catholic education and did so for many years on the Stevens Point Area Catholic School Board. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors: Wife, Carol of Stevens Point. Son, Bill (Kelly) of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and daughter, Chris (Sal Ripoli) of Fountain Hills, Arizona...and grandchildren, Frederick and Meredith Diehl...preceded in death by a sister, Judy Kelly.

Memorial service 10:30 am Thursday May 16, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stevens Point. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the time of services Thursday morning at the Church.
