Ruth M. (Trader) Fox, 88, of Stevens Point, died Friday, August 6, 2010, following a prolonged illness.
Mrs. Fox was born to Frank and Verona (Glodowski) Trader on July 21, 1922 in Amherst Junction where she was raised and attended school. She later graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a teaching degree. Education became a priority for her. The family homework table was her daily domain. She was justifiably proud that all her children graduated from college. She used her degree to teach in a rural, one-room school. She married and lived in the Philadelphia area during WW II. After the war, she settled in Stevens Point where she remained a member of St. Peter's Church until her death.
Mrs. Fox was a familiar face at the surgical ward of St. Michael's Hospital where she volunteered for a number of years. She assisted local families as they awaited surgical results. She delighted in meeting so many Stevens Point residents whose relatives she had known for generations.
Ruth gave birth to seven children; two of whom died shortly after birth. She is survived by four sons, James Fox of Green Bay, David (Jennifer) Fox of Cincinnati, Gary (Linda) Fox of Waukesha, Jeff (Donna) Fox of Minneapolis, and one daughter, Ann (Scott) Brooks of Spokane, WA. She is also survived by nine grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fox is preceded in death by her brother, Leonard Trader. She is also preceded by Thomas and Mary Fox, her children who died shortly after birth.
The family would like to thank Darlene Bartelt and the staff at Harmony House.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. John Potaczek officiating. Burial will follow in Guardian Angel Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday in the St. Faustina Room of the church from 9 a.m. until the time for Mass, with the rosary being prayed at 10 a.m. Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home, Stevens Point, is assisting the family with arrangements.
