Listen to Obituary
Stanley Francis Augustinak, age 86, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2015, at the Portage County Health Care Center.

Stanley was born on April 12, 1928 on his grandparent's farm in the township of Albin, Wisconsin, to Victor and Margaret (Brezinski) Augustinak. He attended Norske Grade School, St. Albert's Catholic School in Rosholt. In 1941, the family moved to Stevens Point and Stanley attended St. Peter's School, then PJ Jacobs High School playing basketball and football there. During his senior year of high school, Stanley enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps and received his high school diploma. Stanley served in the Army Air Corps from 1946-1949 in the Panama Canal and Germany working on reconstruction after World War II. After he returned home, Stanley attended the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, then worked as a door-to-door accordion salesman. Stanley then worked at the Soo Line for over 35 years as a switchman and union stewart, and also served two terms as an alderman for the 7th ward. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1170, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 568 and served as a Commander at the American Legion Post 6. Stanley's marriage to Jane Kosmalski took place on April 28, 1950 at St. Peter's Church in Stevens Point Wisconsin.

From the Pacelli Cardinals, UWSP Pointers, Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers, Stanley was a true sports fan and loved attending the sporting events that his grandchildren and great grandchildren participated in. Stanley enjoyed time at the YMCA, playing cards and golfing with his friends, but his most cherished moments were the times spent with his 3 daughters and their families.
On the basketball court with his wicked hook shot, on the golf course with his fierce 4 wood, or on the pool table with his steady sharp-shooting, Stanley was always teaching his friends and family life lessons, although sometimes unconventionally.

Stanley is survived by his wife Jane; daughters Marie Konkol (Ron), Kathleen Cashin (Tom), Patricia Dahl (Tom); 10 grandchildren: Sean, Rebecca, Kristofer, Andrew, Ahern, Zachary, Justin, Jonathan, Isaac, Emma; and 10 great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Brycen, Malaina, Davis, Kaydence, Aidan, Kennedy, Connelly, Wylie and Jillian. He is also survived by his sisters Anne Zurawski and Regina Misiewicz, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Stanley is preceded in death by his granddaughter Hannah Margaret Dahl and brothers-in-law Carl Zurawski and Joseph Misiewicz.

Family and friends will gather at St. Peter's Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, with the Rev. Arul Joseph V. officiating. There will be visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the St. Faustina room at the church with a Veteran's Service at 10 a.m. Burial will be after mass at the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Memorials in Stanley's name will be established at a later date.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all of Stanley's doctors and nurses who provided wonderful care for his Parkinson's Disease, with a special thank you to his private care provider, Lois.
