Susan D.
Suchocki
August 29, 1941 – March 21, 2026
Susan Dorothy Suchocki, 84 of Custer, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Sue was born to Bernice and Jerome Dierbeck and grew up in Germantown, Wisconsin. It was there, just four doors away, that she met the love of her life, Bob Suchocki, in grade school in 1954. Their friendship blossomed through the years into a high school romance, sharing their first kiss as Seniors. While Bob served two years in the Army, the two faithfully wrote letters to one another, strengthening a bond that would last a lifetime. They were united in marriage on October 5, 1963 and shared 62 wonderful years of marriage.
Sue was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who took immense pride in her family. She was a dedicated stay-at-home-mom while raising her eight children and later worked at the UW-Stevens Point bookstore. She also generously gave 18 years of service cooking for funeral dinners, a quiet testament to her caring nature and commitment to her community.
She lived life with energy and creativity, enjoying kayaking, canoeing, cross-country skiing, curling, swimming, gardening, sewing, cake decorating, photography, and painting. She also loved playing Sheepshead and spending time with family and friends. One of her greatest joys was time spent at the family’s island in Tomahawk, Wisconsin, where she made countless cherished memories with those she loved. Even from a young age, Sue’s spirited personality shone through-famously beating all the boys in a bar-hanging contest in grade school.
Sue was a devoted Catholic whose faith guided her life. She volunteered her time with the Special Olympics and supported school trips, always ready to lend a helping hand. Known for her kind heart, strong work ethic, and forgiving spirit, Sue never held a grudge and found joy in caring for others.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Ron Suchocki; her parents Bernice and Jermone Dierbeck; her brother, Chuck Dierbeck; her brother-in-law, Dennis Becker; and her nephew, Brett Dierbeck.
Sue is survived by her loving husband, Bob Suchocki; her children: Rick (Jen) Suchocki, Danny Suchocki, Peggy (Dan) Feltz, Brian (Pam) Suchocki, Kevin Suchocki, Curt (Ginny) Suchocki, and Mike Suchocki; her siblings: Mike Dierbeck, Cathy Whelan, Mary Becker, Patti Schulz, and Mark Dierbeck; 13 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Susan will be held at St. Mary’s Torun, 5589 Dewey Drive, Stevens Point on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at 11:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM at the church. Fr. Francis Dias to officiate. Burial will follow at Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Following the burial, a remembrance lunch will be served at Rookies in Stevens Point at approximately 1:00 PM, where family and friends are invited to gather and share memories. In true Sue fashion, Bloody Mary’s–garnished with the Suchocki family’s famous pickles–will be served (as she would have enjoyed with her Curling friends).
Sue’s legacy lives on in the family she cherished so deeply and the countless lives she touched with her kindness, generosity, and love.
