THOMAS C. SCHULTZ:

Of 1217 Franklin Street, Stevens Point, died early Sunday morning, January 13, 2008.
Age: 89. Thomas was born May 2, 1918 in Stevens Point. He was the son of the late Anton & Helen (NEE: Stoltz) Schultz. He attended St. Peter's Grade School, and graduated from Emerson High School in 1937.

Thomas was a veteran of WWII. He began his military service as a member of the 32nd (Red Arrow) Division of the National Guard. He entered active duty on October 15, 1940 in Stevens Point. He served during World War II in the Pacific Theatre of Operations – New Guinea, Southern Philippines and Luzon from 1942 to 1945. He served as a Military Occupational Specialty and Airplane Engine Mechanic. He also served as a member of the Headquarters Battery 129th Field Artillery Battalion. Tom received the American Defense Service Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with three Bronze Battle Stars, the Philippines Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze Battle Stars, Six Overseas Service Bars, 1 Service Stripe and the Bronze Star Medal. He was honorably discharged on August 3, 1945 at Fort Sheridan, Illinois with the rank of Tech. 3.

He returned to Stevens Point where he then married the former Dorothy Kabachinski on June 15, 1948 at St. Stephens' Catholic Church. His wife, Dorothy, survives. Tom owned and operated several gasoline service stations and towing services for over 35 years in Stevens Point until his retirement in 1985. He enjoyed sports, fishing and hunting and gardening.

He was a member of the American Legion Berens-Scribner Post 6, and the Knights of Columbus Msgn. McGinley Council No. 1170 of Stevens Point.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial in his name will be established at a later date.

Preceded in death by: 1 brother and 3 sisters.

Funeral Mass: 11:00 am Thursday at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home, Stevens Point, and from 9:30 am Thursday at the St. Faustina Room of St. Peter's Church until the time for mass.
