Thomas V. Wanta:

Of Custer, WI, died suddenly Saturday, June 26, 2010 of a heart attack at Ministry St. Michael's Hospital.

Age 61. Tom was born February 14, 1949 in Stevens Point. He was the son of Ernest and Eleanor (Piotrowski-Davis) Wanta.

He attended local grade schools and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1967.

Tom entered the United States Army on October 20, 1967 in Milwaukee, WI. He served as a SP4 with the Hq. Co. WOFC during the Vietnam War. Tom received the National Defense Service Medal and the Expert Badge (M-14). He was honorably discharged on May 28, 1969.

His marriage to the former Susan Kozak took place on September 12, 1970 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Torun. After their marriage, the couple settled in Stevens Point. His wife, Susan, survives.

Tom worked for over thirty years at Scaffidi Motors as a Master Auto Technician until his retirement in January 2009.

He was member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 30 and the Berens-Scribner American Legion Post 6 of Stevens Point.

Tom was also a member of the Holy Name Society of Sacred Heart Parish in Polonia and was an usher and Eucharistic Minister for the parish.

He loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting, reading and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Tom's name will be established at a later date.

Survivors include his wife: Susan; his children: Mark (Nicole) Wanta, Plainfield, IL,
Amy (Nick) Jaeger of Wisconsin Rapids, Jody Wanta of Portage, WI, Todd (Adrienne)
Wanta of Stevens Point.

His four grandchildren: Joel and Collin Wanta and Meghan and Ashley Jaeger.

His six brothers: Richard (Pam) Wanta of Stevens Point, William (Jackie)
Wanta of Grand Rapids, MI, Ernie (Linda) Wanta of Stevens Point, John Wanta of Pittsburgh, PA, Pat (Lori Nelson) Davis of Mosinee and Donald (Tammy) Davis of Plover, and one sister: Jean (Ken) Zarecki of Junction City.


Further survived by his stepfather: Clarence (Edith) Davis of Edgewood. NM, and his mother-in-law: Rita Kozak of Stevens Point. Brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his father and mother: Ernest Wanta and Eleanor Wanta-Davis, and one brother: Clarence Davis Jr.

The family would like to thank the EMT'S, the Emergency Staff at St. Michael's Hospital and the Good Samaritans who helped out at our time of need.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Polonia. Rev. Marcin Mankowski officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home in Stevens Point and from 9:30 AM Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church until the time for Mass. The Holy Name Society of Sacred Heart Parish will combine with the parish rosary at 7:00 PM Tuesday evening. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.pisarskifuneralhome.com.
