Walter William Peterson Jr., 88, born January 9, 1938, passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior, March 30, 2026, at Aspirus hospital, Wausau, with his loving family surrounding him, after a short illness.

Son of Walter Sr., and Pauline (Polly)(Gavin) Peterson, Wally grew up in the Stevens Point area, a south-sider! He enlisted in the US Army, a proud veteran. After the army, Wally married Donna Turner, they later divorced. Walter and Nancy (Walters), began dating in 1983 and married on January 12, 1996. Their marriage was a match made in heaven. Together, they experienced much loss but gained so many wonderful experiences with family. They enjoyed traveling throughout the United States in their RV. Arizona, New Mexico and Florida were some of their favorite places.

Walter was an avid outdoorsman and filled with adventure. He loved gardening, fishing, camping, water skiing on the WI River, and snow skiing on Rib Mt. (Granite Peak), Standing Rocks and Black Jack. Wally made many fond and exciting memories that his wife, children and grandchildren hold as precious memories in their hearts forever.

Walter is remembered by his loving family, wife Nancy, daughter Beki (Dale Kluck), Nancy’s children: Martin (Terri) Varga, Steve (Vicki) Varga, William (Sue) Varga, and Daniel Varga. His brother Donald. The BEST Grandpa EVER to Aaron, Sarah, Whitney, Marty Jr., Sarah Jean, Shawn, Shane, Uriah, James, Emilee, Rachel, Zakk, Eevee, Vai, Samantha, Tucker and Wade. And, the most amazing Great-Grandpa too!

Preceding him in death: his children Roxane (Roxy), and son-in-law, Tim Meyer, Douglas, Debbie and Ronnie Peterson. Richard (Ricky) and Jennifer (Jenny) Carrick. His sister Ethel and brother-in-law John Wysocki, His sister-in-law, Arlene, son-in-law Jim Stanislawski.

A Funeral Service for Walter will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at Refuge Church, 801 WIS-HH, Stevens Point. The visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the time of service at the church. Burial will take place at a later date in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
