Wayne Lester Kuckkahn, age 97 of Stevens Point, WI, died August 15, 2026. He was born September 13, 1928 to the late Lester and Evelyn Kuckkahn.
Wayne attended and graduated from Watertown High School, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and University of Wisconsin-Madison.
He served his community as a teacher in Madison, school administrator at UW-Madison, and volunteer for St. Vincent DePaul. Wayne served his country as a Naval Aviator and was a veteran of the Korean War, flying off of the battleships USS Midway and USS Tarawa.
On June 10, 1950, Wayne married Shirley Ruth Krueger. Their marriage spanned more than 75 years and was blessed with two sons, Rick Wayne and Todd Jay (Mary); five grandchildren, Megan, Makenzy, Molly (Josh Slaton), Morgan, and Matt (Lauren); and four great-grandchildren, Uriah, Cel, Clark, and Jayley.
Retiring in 1989, he and his wife spent their time in Northern Wisconsin, Fort Myers, FL, Lake Mills, Watertown, and finally, Plover, WI.
Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ruth, and his parents, Lester and Evelyn Kuckkahn.
The family would like to send a special prayer to Dimensions Living and St. Croix Hospice for the love they showed Wayne, and Shirley before her passing.
Per Wayne’s wishes, he will be cremated and there will only be an immediate family gathering.
Wayne asks that each of you do a good deed for a friend or neighbor, donate to your favorite charity, hug a loved one, and more than anything else…enjoy to the fullest the life God has given you.
